about ard
Culturally Relevant Support

Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Black women deserve spaces that reflect their culture, values, and lived experience. From community healing circles to joy-filled wellness events, our support is rooted in what actually works for us.

  • Survivor-led peer groups
  • Holistic healing and wellness gatherings
  • Mental health, movement, and creativity workshops
  • Care experiences led by Black providers, practitioners, and wellness experts.
Advocacy & Representation

Our healthcare system wasn’t built for Black women — so we’re reshaping it. From the doctor’s office to the insurance provider to the research lab, we're advocating for equity at every level. We fight for the right tests, the right treatments, and the right to be taken seriously.

  • Patient navigation and medical advocacy
  • Insurance support and claim navigation
  • Policy recommendations and systems change
  • Provider and institutional training on racial bias
Education

We teach Black women how to recognize health disparities, understand their diagnosis, and confidently speak up in clinical spaces. Because when you know more, you can demand better.

  • Health literacy workshops and guides
  • "What to Ask Your Doctor" tools
  • Group sessions on navigating care and insurance
  • Empowerment through storytelling and survivor wisdom
Biology Informed Resources

Diagnostics and treatments need to reflect our unique biology and genetics to reduce mortality and increase prevention — because outdated, one-size-fits-all care puts our lives at risk. We push for research, testing, and protocols built with us in mind.

  • Access to advanced screenings like 3D mammograms and MRIs to accommodate denser breast tissue in Black women
  • Genetic testing support beyond BRCA for Black families
  • Research on racial diagnostic disparities and biological markers
  • Partnerships with labs, clinicians, and health technology experts to close the accuracy gap

BLACK WOMEN ARE MORE THAN

MORE LIKELY TO DIE FROM BREAST CANCER THAN OTHER WOMEN

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS

Donate

Black women are more likely to have denser breast tissue, more likely to develop aggressive subtypes like triple-negative breast cancer, and less likely to be offered genetic testing or advanced screenings that could save their lives - due to a medical system that was never designed with us in mind.

Medical schools still teach using standards and examples based on non-minority patients. That means doctors may not recognize how symptoms show up in Black women or how our genetic and biological needs are different. We are also less likely to be referred for genetic testing.

Through advocacy, education, and culturally relevant care, we’re pushing for systemic change where it's needed most.
